Philadelphia, PA, USA
In redesigning the kitchen of an art collector's apartment overlooking Philadelphia's storied Rittenhouse Square, we aimed to mirror the client's artistic sensibility while emphasizing a clean and crisp aesthetic. Faced with the challenge of limited natural light in the kitchen, we opted for a bright white palette to enhance the brightness and openness of the space.
The client desired a design that would not only showcase her unique style but also complement the beautiful views over the tree-lined park. To achieve this, we stripped back existing elements and implemented a minimalist design that serves as a backdrop rather than competing with the art pieces displayed.
For lighting, a key feature given the kitchen's lack of sunlight, we collaborated with female artisans in New York to create a custom-sized pendant light. This bespoke piece not only illuminates the space effectively but also adds a sculptural quality that aligns with the artistic theme of the apartment. This renovation not only met the functional needs of a well-lit kitchen but also transformed the space into an extension of the client's gallery, reflecting her artistic flair in every detail.
