When an Italian family of four relocated from central London to the Main Line suburbs, they sought to replicate the open-plan living and dining space of their former Queen’s Park home. Tasked with this vision, we retained the stone manor’s classic façade while transforming the interior into a flexible, inviting series of spaces.
Our design strategy emphasized spatial planning to create multi-functional seating areas that blend seamlessly. We incorporated a mix of antiques and modern elements, underpinning the entire design with a sophisticated, clean aesthetic. The palette was kept comfortable yet elegant, featuring rich, moody colors that provide unexpected pops and highlight the stunning garden views.
A significant change was replacing the small, ineffective windows in the family room with a large, picture-frame-like window. This new window not only enhances the natural light but also frames the beautiful garden and pool area, turning the view into a living artwork. The area around this window was deliberately designed with minimalism in mind, ensuring that the outdoor view remained the focal point and creating a tranquil backdrop for family life in their new suburban setting.
